ON THE ORGANIZATION

The Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN) is a dynamic network of aca-demic health organizations providing leading edge research, teaching and clinical care. TAHSN serves as a leader in Canadian healthcare and is one of the largest, most productive academic health centres in North America as evidenced on a number of dimensions including academic standing, research activity/output, visionary collabo-ration and contribution to healthcare innovation.

Our mission is to demonstrate shared leadership to optimize, sustain, and advance our shared academic mission, thereby promoting TAHSN as a magnet for world-class research and innovation, teaching and knowledge transfer, and high quality patient care; building capacity for all.

ON COLLABORATION

TAHSN is comprised of the University of Toronto and 13 affiliated academic hospitals, each of which hold national and international standing as leaders in their particular fields. Together, these organizations work collaboratively to advance and sustain their shared academic mission. The shared vision of TAHSN is to be stronger together in leading and changing the future of healthcare.

Dr. Barry McLellan

President & CEO, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and TAHSN Representative

Dr. McLellan provides leadership for one of Canada’s largest academic health sciences centres with 10,000 staff and physicians, 1,300 beds and an annual budget of more than $900 million. Dr. McLellan is also a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto.
